Month Two: Accessing Upper Range
I am so glad the
first month is out of the way! Once you start seeing results and
start feeling comfortable with your voice the learning process becomes
mentally easier. When I first started out, I would get SO
frustrated because my voice would crack and break up whenever I
attempted to ascend up the scale. There were actually a few times
where I would give up for the rest of the day. I would get so
angry that if my vocal cords weren't in my delicate larynx I would have
punched them! I sure wish I didn't wait until I was 20 to start
using my voice... BUT... Its NOT too late! That is the good
news. I hope to prove that to you all over the next few months.
There are still 5 more months to go,
so lets get to business! As we all know, the mix voice is what all commercial singers are after. A mix voice is a mixture of both chest voice and head voice. So in order for me to develop a good commercial sounding mix, I must develop a strong chest voice and head voice (my head voice was VERY weak at the start of this study). In order to develop a strong head voice, I first have to access it! On day one, I could not make high pitched sounds or else my voice would just cut out on me (it wouldn't make any sound!). Listen to the clip below.
Audio Clip:
On day one, I couldn't get into my upper range - now I can. It doesn't sound great, but just the fact of being able to get INTO my upper range is satisfying enough. I've never been able to do it, but now I can. Listen as I do some "mums" in my upper range.
(audio coming soon)
Next: Month 3
Please note: this study is an example of a singer who has absolutely NO experience. If you use this program, and you already have a little singing experience, then your results should be much better, MUCH faster!
